Cholesterol or ketones, can we have both?
I wanted to know the relationship between and what drives production of cholesterol versus ketones. The simple reason being that 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl Coa or HMG-Coa (HMG) is either reduced by HMG-Coa reductase (HMGr) into the pathway towards cholesterol or HMG-Coa lyase (HMGl) sets it on the pathway towards Acetoacetate.
